Whoo! This summer has been so momentous thus far, it’s almost hard to believe that were just about over the halfway mark, our first Service Urban Expedition for the season included. We had the Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida (GSGCF) visit our campus in order to challenge themselves with one of our summer expeditions. We had the pleasure of capturing some truly phenomenal moments of the girls crafting bonds and breaking down barriers through having to rely on one another and working together to complete service tasks all around the Baltimore area. These girls earned the opportunity through hard work in the Girl Scouts then flew all the way up from Florida, stepping out of their usual environment, to experience new challenges with new people and we were more than willing to join them.
The girls started out the second day with some morning service outside at the Maryland Zoo and on day three, Darley Park. The final day had the crew volunteering at the Daily Bread Employment Center after which the girls trekked through the city to the Middle Branch Boathouse where they ended the expedition with a quick canoeing trip out onto the inner harbor.
We’d like to give special thanks to the two instructors, Becs Lyons and Joey Barness who guided the girls to achieving their goals and bringing greater value to their learning experience. There was a bevy of intriguing and noteworthy activities to observe, as the group displayed some premiere aspects of a cohesive and functioning team.
